Job Summary

The sushi chef is responsible for all aspects of producing sushi for our in-store fresh sushi program. There will be direct interaction with customers during production and sampling. The chef must work in a clean, organized manner as production occurs in front of customers. The role requires an outgoing, friendly attitude and willingness to answer customer questions.

Essential Job Functions

1. Greet, acknowledge, and engage all guests.
2. Prepare various finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce for sushi.
3. Maintain food safety records for sushi rice.
4. Assemble, package, and label sushi, sides, and spring rolls for sale.
5. Prepare custom sushi rolls upon customer request.
6. Train and assist other associates as needed.
7. Ensure compliance with Food City policies and food safety standards.
8. Maintain high standards of product quality.
9. Monitor temperatures and shelf lives of ingredients.
10. Keep workstation clean and organized.
11. Have comprehensive knowledge of sushi menu and ingredients.
12. Market the Food City Sushi Program through sampling.
13. Assist in ordering supplies to maintain inventory.
14. Maintain proper signage.
15. Communicate customer feedback to management.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
