Job Summary

The sushi chef is responsible for all aspects of producing sushi for our in-store fresh sushi program. This role involves direct interaction with customers during production and through sampling. The chef must work in a clean, organized manner since production occurs in front of customers. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, friendly, and willing to answer customer questions.

Essential Job Functions

• Greet, acknowledge, and engage all guests.
• Prepare various finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce for sushi.
• Maintain food safety records for sushi rice.
• Assemble, package, and label sushi, sides, and spring rolls for sale.
• Prepare custom sushi rolls upon customer request.
• Train and assist other associates as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Food City policies and food safety standards.
• Maintain high standards of product quality.
• Monitor ingredient temperatures and shelf lives.
• Keep workstation clean and organized.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of the sushi menu and ingredients.
• Market the Food City Sushi Program through sampling and promotions.
• Assist in ordering supplies to maintain inventory without shortages.
• Maintain proper signage in the department.
• Communicate customer feedback to the Meat Department Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to meet physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks with interaction across various levels.
• Availability to work on-site during scheduled shifts and adhere to attendance policies.
