Job Summary

The sushi chef is responsible for all aspects of producing sushi for our in-store fresh sushi program. The role involves direct interaction with customers during production and sampling. The chef must work in a clean, organized manner since production occurs in front of customers. An outgoing, friendly demeanor and willingness to answer customer questions are essential.

Essential Job Functions
  • Greet and engage all guests warmly.
  • Prepare various fish, shellfish, and produce items for sushi.
  • Maintain food safety records for sushi rice.
  • Assemble, package, and label sushi, sides, and spring rolls.
  • Prepare custom sushi rolls upon customer request.
  • Train and assist other team members as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of product quality.
  • Monitor ingredient temperatures and shelf lives.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Know the sushi menu and ingredients thoroughly.
  • Market the Food City Sushi Program through sampling.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain proper signage.
  • Communicate customer feedback to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
