Job summary

Voices Against Violence seeks a Program Advocate to provide direct support and advocacy to survivors within our shelter program, coordinating with other systems alongside the advocacy team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Service field, (Social Work, Counseling…) or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.
• A highly motivated and responsible individual with the ability to relate to a wide variety of people in a non-judgmental, positive and competent manner.
• Treat others with dignity and respect regardless of differences based on race ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, religion, culture, class or age.
• Willingness and ability to work independently during overnight or weekend shifts.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to reliable transportation and willingness and ability to travel within the CVOEO service area.
• Ability to uphold safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and advocacy services to survivors within the shelter program.
• Coordinate services with other systems alongside the advocacy team.
• Offer backup for hotline support, outreach, legal advocacy, family support, and general advocacy.
