Job summary

Virginia's Community College System seeks an instructor to teach construction materials properties and related testing procedures to technicians, and to teach CAD software for residential and commercial buildings. You will provide classroom and lab instruction in both areas.

Responsibilities include performing duties as assigned and assisting in emergencies. A criminal background check is required; the system promotes equal employment opportunities and prohibits discrimination.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
• Ability to use instructional technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.
• Experience with surveying equipment, distance measurement, traversing, area computations, topographic map analysis, earthwork, and related topics.
• Knowledge of applied hydraulics, drainage, and water resource technology (preferred).
• Ability to run labs with surveying equipment.

Responsibilities

• Teach all aspects of properties of construction materials and related testing procedures for technicians.
• Teach all aspects of CAD software as applied to residential and commercial buildings.
• Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in both content areas.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and assist in emergency circumstances as required.
