Job summary

Virginia Community Colleges seeks an Assistant Coordinator/Instructor for the Construction & Transportation Trades Program to co‑coordinate and deliver non‑credit workforce and certification training across multiple sites, including partnerships with employers. You will help maintain equipment, develop curricula, and ensure program quality.

The role requires teaching across labs, classrooms, and online formats, coordinating adjuncts, and obtaining required NCCER/VDOT certifications to teach

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge and experience in the construction trades industry.
• Knowledge of adult training methods, curriculum design and development, and evaluation methodology.
• Ability to train other instructors in classroom management and instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of training participants, faculty, staff, and partners.
• NCCER or VDOT Certifications required prior to teaching or proctoring exams.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred; 2+ years in construction trades and 1+ year supervisory/instructional experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update curriculum for Construction Trades education programs.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of certification programs and curriculum.
• Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment.
• Perform outreach to employers and workforce partners.
• Coordinate, mentor, and evaluate adjunct instructors to ensure instructional quality.
• Become certified to teach Construction Trades and VDOT courses.
