Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) invites you to join our Pittsburgh, PA office as a Survey Technician Intern. You will work with a growing survey team delivering professional services across a range of projects and gain hands-on experience in the surveying field.

You will assist with surveys, learn to use robotic total stations, GPS, drones, LiDAR, and surveying software while performing field data collection and computations under a mentor-driven internship program.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelors in Survey program, or related field preferred.
• Prior internship and/or survey experience a plus.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced survey field staff performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, route surveys, stream surveys, and construction stakeouts.
• Gain exposure to progressive technology including robotic total stations, GPS, Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones), and LiDAR scanning.
• Learn to collect survey data and search for boundary evidence while working in a variety of terrain and outdoor conditions.
• Perform physical tasks such as setting stakes and monuments, clearing brush, and laden hiking.
• Utilize surveying software applications to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and perform fundamental survey computations.

As a Survey Technician Intern at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in our Pittsburgh, PA office you will join a growing survey team providing professional survey services on a wide variety of projects. Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to obtain hands‑on experience in the survey profession.
As a Survey Technician Intern, you will

• Assist experienced survey field staff performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, route surveys, stream surveys, and construction stakeouts
• Gain exposure to progressive technology including robotic total stations, GPS, Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones), and LiDAR scanning
• Learn to collect survey data and search for boundary evidence while working in a variety of terrain and outdoor conditions

Through the CEC Internship Program, you will

• Acquire practical experience applying knowledge from college courses, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with teams across functional groups and locations
• Develop a robust professional network through social events and interactive activities
• Collaborate closely with a mentor in your discipline to tackle real-world challenges
• Participate in workshops to help foster interpersonal skills within the workplace and prepare students for success in their full-time careers
• Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelors in Survey program, or related field of study preferred
• Prior internship and/or survey expereince a plus
• Possession of sufficient physical stamina to work outdoors under various field conditions
• Occasional travel may be required
• Valid Driver's License
