Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Survey Party Chief in Santa Clara, CA to lead a field team in land surveys, boundary determinations, and topographic mapping. You will supervise crew, ensure data quality, and coordinate with project managers and clients.

Responsibilities include assigning tasks, operating total stations, GPS, scanners, and data collectors; reviewing land records; establishing boundaries and control points; and maintaining equipment with safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief or similar role.
• Proficient with surveying equipment and software.
• Strong knowledge of boundary and topographic surveys.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; LSIT/PLS desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a survey team in the field, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection.
• Assign tasks to team members, provide guidance, and oversee their work.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, scanners, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
• Perform measurements and data collection for boundary, topographic, bathymetric, and construction surveys.
• Review land records and documents to determine property boundaries.
• Establish boundary markers and reference points with precise techniques.
• Set up and maintain control points and benchmarks.
