Job summary

JDS Surveying, Inc. is a Texas-based land surveying firm looking to hire a Survey Party Chief for the San Angelo area.

You will lead field crews, plan and execute topographic, boundary, ALTA, and construction-related surveys, and operate Total Station equipment to ensure high-quality data. The role requires interpreting plans, coordinating with project managers, maintaining field notes and records, and upholding safety on all sites.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Land Surveying and Topographic Surveys, including boundary and construction layout work.
• Experience with Building Surveying and ALTA Surveys for commercial and residential projects.
• Hands-on skills with Total Station and related survey instruments, including setup, calibration, and data capture.
• Strong understanding of survey principles, mapping, and coordinate systems; familiarity with GPS and data collectors is beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, plats, legal descriptions, and project specifications.
• Effective leadership and crew management skills, with the ability to train and direct field staff safely and efficiently.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting field work and interacting with clients and team members.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions; prior experience as a Party Chief or survey crew leader preferred.
