Role Description The Survey Party Chief is a full-time, on-site position based in Medford, NY, responsible for leading field crews in performing a variety of land and building surveys. Day-to-day tasks include organizing field activities, operating survey instruments, collecting and verifying field measurements, and ensuring that data is accurate and complete. The role involves overseeing topographic, boundary, construction, and ALTA surveys, setting up control points, and documenting field notes in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. The Survey Party Chief coordinates with project managers, communicates with clients and site personnel as needed, and promotes safe work practices in all field operations.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in land surveying practices, including Topographic Surveys and Land Surveying methods.
• Experience with Building Surveying and ALTA Surveys for commercial and residential projects.
• Hands-on expertise with survey instruments such as Total Station and related field equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, legal descriptions, and construction documents.
• Attention to detail with accurate field note-taking and data recording skills.
• Effective leadership skills to direct field crews and manage daily survey activities.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying site and weather conditions.
• Preferred: Formal training or certification in surveying, and familiarity with GPS, data collectors, and CAD or survey software.
