Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Survey, Engineering, Science, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Party Chief or minimum 2 years as an HRC Survey Field Crew Member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a Survey Crew and work as part of a team.
  • Valid Class C driver's license required at appointment and maintained throughout employment.
  • Knowledge of traverse execution and error checking.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, plan, and manage field projects and daily tasks.
  • Conduct construction staking, boundary and topographic surveys.
  • Proficient use of GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and data collectors.
  • Locate property and survey monuments from deeds and surveys.
  • Perform COGO functions in the field and ensure data quality.
  • Maintain client communication about field work and daily progress.
  • Record field notes and sketches; manage project from start to finish.
  • Mentor and supervise survey crew members.

Job Description

Job Title: Survey Crew Party Chief

Job Summary: The Survey Crew Party Chief effectively manages a Survey Field Crew and

assigned field projects in all phases including survey project start up, onsite client communication, project planning, and the successful completion of all project data to the appropriate HRC Survey Project Manager. The Survey Crew Party Chief is expected to provide feedback to management on performance of each crew member and their field performance.

Reporting to: Field Team Lead
Responsibilities
  • Organizing, planning, and managing Field Projects and the daily field tasks associated with those projects
  • Construction staking, boundary surveys, topographic surveys
  • In-depth understanding and efficient and effective use of all equipment including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors
  • Locate property and survey monuments using record deeds and surveys
  • Perform topographic surveys incorporating break lines
  • Perform COGO functions such as inverse resection, stake to line, translate, and rotate in the field
  • Client relationship and coordinating, communicating what field work is being done prior to starting, and what work has been completed that day
  • Downloading and uploading data for work to be done and or completed for the day
  • Good numeracy skills and the ability to make mathematical calculations
  • Logical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to record detailed field notes and sketches
  • Reading deeds and plats and the ability to key them into data collector
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently run a project from start to finish
  • Ability to lead, manage, train, and mentor survey crew members
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Survey, Engineering, Science, or related technical field or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred but not required
  • Must have a minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Party Chief or minimum 2 years as an HRC Survey Field Crew Member
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and lead a Survey Crew
  • Valid Class C driver’s license required at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment
  • Understanding of how to run and analyze a traverse
  • Basic understanding of errors, how to check and resolve them
  • Knowledge of the various Survey equipment by the survey division (minimum 2 years Robotic Total Station, Carlson Survey, Trimble Survey, Field to Finish preferred)
  • Knowledge of the market area
  • GDOT survey procedures and processes (preferred but not necessary)
  • Salary: Based on Experience
