Job summary

RAMTEX is seeking a Survey Party Chief in Cameron, LA to coordinate daily survey activities, plan routes, verify control points, and perform project layout with CAD support when needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to Cameron, Louisiana area.

Responsibilities

Role Description: The Survey Party Chief is a full-time, on-site role based in Cameron, Louisiana, responsible for coordinating daily survey activities, including planning survey routes, verifying control points, project layout, CAD modeling (when required), GPS equipment support, and overseeing the setup and operation of survey equipment. The Survey Party Chief will collect, record, and verify field data, perform layout for construction, and ensure that measurements and staking are accurate and compliant with project plans and specifications. They will work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to communicate survey results, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clear documentation. The role also involves enforcing safety standards, training crew members on proper survey practices, and ensuring that all work follows company and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be confident in reading and understanding construction plans and drawings.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in operating Total Station and GPS equipment and related survey instruments for precise data collection and layout.
• Knowledge of survey principles, coordinate geometry, and basic drafting or CAD software is beneficial.
• Experience leading field crews, organizing daily tasks, and communicating clearly with project teams is preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, follow safety procedures, and meet project deadlines is required.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional technical training or certification in surveying or civil construction is a plus. A minimum of 5 years experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in and around Cameron, Louisiana are required.
