Job summary

Brevard County is seeking a part-time GIS technician to support the Survey team. The role involves preparing and updating digital survey maps, sketches, and exhibits, plus researching deeds and plats and inputting GIS data for asset-map production.

Work schedule is Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Government Center/Viera. Salary is $19.52 hourly and employment is up to six months with potential for extension depending on funding and performance.

Qualifications

30 semester hours toward a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, CAD/Drafting, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field.
Or two years of CAD drafting or GIS input and mapping experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and update digital survey maps, sketches, and exhibits.
Research deed and plats and input GIS data for producing GIS asset maps.

THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE/TEMPORARY

$19.52 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Part-time/up to 24 hours per week not to exceed six (6) months. Work schedule is Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs experienced technical work as part of the Survey team office staff preparing and updating digital survey maps, sketches, and exhibits researching deed and plats; and inputting Geographic Information System (GIS) data in the production of GIS asset maps.

REQUIREMENTS:

Thirty (30) semester hours [forty-five (45) quarter hours] of college-level coursework towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, or a closely related field; OR two (2) years of experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drafting or Geographic Information System (GIS) input and mapping. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
