Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a motivated Survey Intern for their San Diego Survey Group to gain hands-on experience in land surveying and civil engineering support. You will work in the field and office on real projects across Southern California, collaborating with professional surveyors and engineers.

You will assist with data collection, drafting, and data processing while learning the full survey workflow from field to mapping deliverables.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in civil engineering, geomatics, surveying, or related field.
• Interest in land surveying, mapping, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work outdoors in field environments and in an office setting.
• Basic familiarity with CAD software is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assisting survey field crews with data collection for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
• Supporting survey drafting efforts using CAD software to prepare base maps and survey exhibits.
• Assisting with processing and organizing field data collected using modern survey equipment.
• Performing basic research of survey records and maps.
• Supporting project teams with general survey-related tasks as needed.
