Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking the right candidate to support field crews in Houston for boundary and topographic surveys, using robotic total stations and GNSS to collect precise geospatial data.

You will document field notes, interpret maps, and maintain equipment while traveling as needed. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required, with at least one year of industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Use a variety of land survey instruments to support a field crew in their daily operations to gather data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, and construction layout.
• Assist in completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels.
• Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Read and interpret various types of maps and plans.
• Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief.
• Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle.
• Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices.
