Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a field survey technician to support field crews across boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys. You will operate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and 3D laser scanners, while collecting geospatial data and performing calculations at job sites.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year of industry experience, with willingness to travel and work outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• One year industry experience.
• Knowledge of land surveying practices and basic survey computations.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel or stay out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use land survey instruments to support field crews for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
• Assist in field survey completion under supervision of Crew Chief; report progress and issues.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios, and 3D laser scanners.
• Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform computations.
• Read and interpret maps and plans accurately.
• Maintain neat field notes with precise measurements under supervision.
• Load/unload trucks with survey equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain survey tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Follow company safety procedures and policies.
