Survey Field Technician - Entry-Level/Rod Person

Description

If you're looking for an opportunity to work outdoors while gaining hands-on training towards a new profession - we'd like to discuss an opportunity in the Survey/Geomatics industry with you. DRMP's Surveying & Mapping/Geomatics Division is HIRING and we're looking for entry-level, Survey Field Technicians to join our Charlotte office.

Responsibilities
  • Load truck with the necessary equipment and supplies that are needed throughout the day.
  • Transport and set up the instruments/equipment and prepare the job site for the survey.
  • Clear brush and trees away from the survey line.
  • Hold the prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points.
  • Measure how far different points are from each other, using tape or electronic equipment; Help with the various pieces of survey equipment.
  • Have familiarity/working knowledge of survey equipment.
  • Operate the surveying equipment with the supervisor's oversight.
Requirements
  • High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
  • Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
  • Ability to travel - some overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
  • Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use).
  • Adequate knowledge of equipment and the ability to set up for various types of work.
  • Ability to hold and proficiently use a prism pole, rods, and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to lift the pieces of equipment required for a project.
