Survey Field Technician - Entry-Level/Rod Person

We’re looking for an entry‑level Survey Field Technician to join our Tampa office in the Survey/Geomatics division. You’ll gain hands‑on training and work outdoors.

Department: Survey/Geomatics
Location: Tampa, FL

Primary Responsibilities:

• Load truck with the necessary equipment and supplies needed throughout the day.
• Transport, set up, and prepare the job site for the survey.
• Clear brush and trees away from the survey line.
• Hold the prism pole steady to assist the surveyor in determining elevations of different points.
• Measure distances between points using tape or electronic equipment; help with various pieces of survey equipment.
• Have familiarity/working knowledge of survey equipment.
• Operate the surveying equipment under the supervisor’s oversight.

What you'll need:

• High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Ability to travel; some overnight travel may be required.
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use).
• Adequate knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types of work.
• Ability to hold and use a prism pole, rods, and other measuring devices.
• Ability to lift the pieces of equipment required for a project.
