Job summary

DRMP is seeking an entry-level Survey Field Technician to join our Raleigh, NC team. This role offers hands-on training in the Survey/Geomatics industry, with opportunities to work outdoors and gain practical experience in surveying and mapping.

You will load and transport equipment, set up survey sites, clear brush along lines, and assist the surveyor in measuring elevations and distances using various tools. Overnight travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or vocational/technical training required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
• Overnight travel may be required.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Load truck with equipment and supplies for the day.
• Transport and set up instruments and prepare the job site.
• Clear brush and trees from survey lines.
• Hold prism pole steady for elevations as directed.
• Measure distances with tape or electronic equipment and assist with survey gear.
• Familiarity with survey equipment; operate gear under supervision.

What you will lead:

• Load truck with the necessary equipment and supplies that are needed throughout the day.
• Transport and set up the instruments/equipment and prepare the job site for the survey.
• Clear brush and trees away from the survey line.
• Hold the prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points.
• Measure how far different points are from each other, using tape or electronic equipment; Help with the various pieces of survey equipment.
• Have familiarity/working knowledge of survey equipment.
• Operate the surveying equipment with the supervisor's oversight.

What you bring:

• Prior surveying experience is a plus (not required)
• Overnight travel may be required
• High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
• Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
• Ability to travel - some overnight travel may be required
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines. (machete use)
• Adequate knowledge of equipment and the ability to set up for various types of work.
• Ability to hold and proficiently use a prism pole, rods, and other measuring devices.
• Ability to lift the pieces of equipment required for a project.
