Job summary

Woolpert seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field crews on boundary, topo, construction, and as-built surveys across the Western US. Travel up to 80% with assignments in CO/NM/AZ/WY/UT. Requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and proficiency with survey instruments and data processing. Visa sponsorship not provided; US work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field, or five years of related experience.
• Must be able to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
• Proficient in operating survey instruments and software (total stations, GNSS, levels, data collectors).
• Background checks and drug testing may be required by company policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew to conduct field surveys including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment such as total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, levels, and data collectors.
• Prepare detailed field notes and sketches documenting survey activities.
• Adhere to project requirements, goals, and schedules as directed by the Survey Team Leader.
• Perform basic quality control of data and ensure accuracy meets project standards.
• Assist in monitoring project progress, troubleshoot issues, and support timelines and budgets.
• Communicate issues or delays to the Survey Team Leader in a timely manner.
• Promote safety operations and maintain PPE inventory and equipment safety checks.
• Provide basic guidance and training to junior survey crew members.
