Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveys across a range of projects, including boundary and topographic surveys. You will operate total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and data collectors, while ensuring data quality and safety guidelines are followed.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and surveying knowledge, with up to 80% travel across the Western United States; candidates based in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, or Utah are considered.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field, or five years of related experience.
• Proficient in operating survey instruments and software (total stations, GNSS receivers, levels, data collectors).
• Ability to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
• Proven communication skills and ability to present information to clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew to conduct field surveys (boundary, topographic, construction, as-built).
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (total stations, GNSS, laser scanners, levels).
• Prepare detailed field notes and sketches; ensure data meets quality requirements.
• Monitor progress, troubleshoot, and maintain timelines and budgets.
• Train junior crew members and evaluate performance.
