Woolpert, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey crews across projects in the Western United States, with the role based in Illinois.

The position focuses on boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys, using total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and data collectors, while ensuring data quality and compliance with company standards. You will mentor junior crew members, coordinate with the Survey Team Leader, and travel up to 80% of the time to support

Competenze

• Certified Survey Technician certification, OSHA certifications, or passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying is desired.
• FAA Part 107, Certified Remote Pilot certification is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid understanding of survey principles, methods, and practices.
• Ability to interpret and analyze survey data, maps, and construction plans.
• Leadership abilities and good organizational skills.
• Proficiency with survey-related mathematical concepts.
• Knowledge of ASCE 38-22 subsurface utility engineering standards is a plus.

• Lead a survey crew to conduct field surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment such as total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, levels, and data collectors.
• Prepare detailed field notes and sketches documenting survey activities.
• Adhere to project requirements, goals, and schedules set by the Survey Team Leader.
• Utilize survey software for downloading, processing, initial quality control, and verification of data accuracy.
• Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to maintain timelines and budgets.
• Communicate issues or delays to the Survey Team Leader in a timely manner.
• Follow safety protocols and manage PPE inventory and equipment safety checks.
• Provide guidance and training to junior survey crew members and assist in evaluating performance.
