Job summary

Rick Engineering Company (RICK) is seeking a Land Survey Crew Chief to lead our field survey team on landmark projects in Tucson, AZ. You will manage field tasks, coordinate geometry calculations, and work closely with clients and contractors to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

The role requires hands-on operation of survey equipment, strong plan reading skills, and proven teamwork. Travel 2–3 days every few months may be required; a valid driving record is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to perform coordinate geometry calculations and direct the work of others.
• Familiar with survey equipment including total stations and GPS systems; Trimble Access a plus.
• Ability to read construction plans and prepare cut sheets.
• Physical demands include lifting 50 lbs., standing 8–10 hours, and swinging an 8 lb. sledgehammer.
• Dependable and able to work well with a survey team; experience dealing with clients and contractors.
• Good driving record.
• Occasional out-of-town travel; typical travel 2–3 days every 3 months.

Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 - 5-years’ experience as a Party Crew Chief, plus an A.S. in surveying or equivalent work experience of seven years. LSIT OR RLS a plus. Experience must include construction performance, topographical, boundary, and aerial control surveys.

• Proven ability to perform coordinate geometry calculations using hand-held programmable calculator and direct the work of others.
• Must be familiar with use and maintenance of survey equipment including total stations and GPS systems. Familiarity with Trimble Access a plus.
• Preparation of cut sheets and demonstrated ability to read construction plans.
• Position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for 8 to 10 hours per day and swing an 8 lb. sledgehammer.
• Candidate must be dependable and display the ability to work well with others as they will be on a survey team.
• Candidate will have experience dealing effectively with clients and contractors.
• Good driving record is a must.
• Position will require periodic out of town work. Typical travel is 2-3 days once every 3 months. There is opportunity for extended out of town work and recommend applying if this is of interest.
