Survey Crew Chief

Department: Survey/Geomatics

Description

DRMP's Survey Department in Raleigh, North Carolina is HIRING! If you're an experienced Crew Chief with strong leadership capabilities, who wants to be more than a number and have your ideas heard - this could be your opportunity!

As the Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief, you will represent the company in the field and will be responsible for ensuring that the crew and equipment are ready for each assignment. You will need to ensure that work is performed to company standards and that results are presented clearly and accurately.

*You will lead the field effort for various surveying tasks including construction, topographic, boundary, right-of-way, control, route/roadway, and NCDOT survey projects.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

• Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluating field survey crew members
• Instruct and train crew members in survey methods, equipment use, and safety procedures
• Gather survey data using conventional and GPS methods
• Set up, adjust, and operate robotic surveying equipment, including total stations, data collectors, and GPS units
• Prepare field notes and drawings
• Perform field surveys for roadway, bridges, flood control projects, including installing stakes, tying out intersections, and establishing control points, boundaries, and property lines

What you'll need

• High School diploma and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school
• Good written communication skills and ability to organize field crew
• Basic math skills and proficiency with calculators and computational devices
• Ability to lift and carry equipment
• Ability to clear brush while establishing survey lines (e.g., machete use)
• Knowledge of survey equipment setup and operation
• Proficiency with measuring devices
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Willingness and ability to travel
