We're seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field operations on some of North Florida's most visible transportation, commercial, industrial, utility, and land development projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced survey professional to take ownership of projects, lead a crew, and work with modern GPS and survey technology while enjoying the independence that comes with being a trusted field leader. Whether you're an established Party Chief looking for a better opportunity or an experienced Instrument Operator ready to step into a leadership role, this position offers a clear path to long-term growth within a respected surveying and engineering organization.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and supervise survey crews on transportation, commercial, industrial, utility, warehouse, federal, and land development projects.
  • Perform and oversee construction staking, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and control surveys.
  • Coordinate daily field activities, establish priorities, and ensure project schedules are met.
  • Operate and manage GPS equipment, Total Stations, data collectors, and survey software.
  • Perform field calculations and verify data accuracy before project deliverables are submitted.
  • Establish and re-establish survey control points and benchmarks.
  • Research deeds, easements, plats, right-of-way information, and historical survey records.
  • Communicate directly with project engineers, clients, contractors, and internal survey teams.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, reports, and project documentation.
  • Mentor crew members and promote a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism.
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience leading survey crews or serving in a senior field surveying role.
  • Experience with construction staking, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and land development projects.
  • Proficiency using Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems, data collectors, and survey software.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in the field.
  • Strong understanding of survey procedures, calculations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Bonus Experience
  • FDOT or transportation project experience.
  • Utility, power, industrial, or large-scale commercial development projects.
  • Experience training and developing junior survey personnel.
  • Familiarity with boundary resolution, control networks, and advanced field calculations.
Why Join?
  • Company truck provided, with the ability to take it home.
  • Consistent workload with overtime opportunities.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of project types across North Florida.
  • Opportunity to lead your own crew and have a direct impact on project success.
  • Stable organization with long-term growth opportunities.
  • Work with modern GPS, GNSS, robotic Total Station, and data collection technologies.
  • Strong support from experienced survey and engineering teams.

The role offers a high level of independence, responsibility, and visibility, making it an excellent fit for survey professionals who enjoy working outside, solving problems in the field, and leading crews on complex projects.
