Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, is seeking a Survey CAD Technician in Lakeland, FL. You will produce land survey drawings and map substitutes from inception to completion with minimal supervision.

The role involves preparing maps from field data, reducing notes, performing geometry calculations, and integrating GPS data while ensuring QA/QC of deliverables. Strong CAD skills and surveying knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma (required).
• Graduate of a two-year program in computer-aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school (preferred).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical surveying and mapping experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to our insurance provider (required).
• Ability to work safely and obey safety regulations at all times.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and surveying software; extensive knowledge of Excel, Google Earth, Trimble Business Center, GIS, and GPS.
• Knowledge of surveying principles, practices, standards, and project management; travel ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare maps and drawings from survey field data (topographic maps, boundary surveys, site plans, as-builts, exhibits).
• Reduce field notes and perform coordinate geometry calculations (intersections, curves, area calculations).
• Post process static GPS data and incorporate RTK GPS data into projects.
• Conduct QA/QC on deliverables and verify data against sources.
• Establish vertical controls and ties to benchmarks; ensure compatibility with adjacent surveys.
