Position Summary

The Endoscopy Technologist provides clinical and procedural support to physicians and the endoscopy team by assisting with procedures, maintaining endoscopy equipment, and ensuring procedure rooms are prepared and properly maintained. This role is responsible for the safe handling, cleaning, processing, and documentation of endoscopy equipment while promoting patient safety, confidentiality, and a positive patient experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization while providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
  • Assist physicians and clinical team members during endoscopy procedures by preparing procedure rooms, providing necessary equipment and supplies, and supporting procedural needs.
  • Demonstrate proper use and handling of endoscopy instruments, devices, suction equipment, and related procedural supplies.
  • Clean, disinfect, process, and maintain endoscopy equipment and instruments according to established policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Perform room turnover and terminal cleaning of procedure rooms between cases and at the end of the day.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment processing, sterilization, and required departmental records.
  • Follow OSHA, AAMI, AORN, infection prevention, and chemical handling guidelines to support a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and healthcare team members to promote efficient workflow and quality care.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality while advocating for patient safety.
  • Demonstrate competency in required job functions and maintain knowledge of current procedures, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the department and organization.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a GI, surgical, or procedural setting preferred.

Working Conditions
