Job summary

Murfreesboro Medical Clinic is seeking an Ophthalmology Practice Manager to lead day-to-day administrative and operational functions at the Murfreesboro campus. You will supervise staff, coordinate with providers, and ensure compliant, efficient workflows in a physician-owned multi-specialty clinic.

The role emphasizes leadership, budgeting support, and staff development within a patient‑centered ophthalmology practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of administrative or healthcare experience, including 2–3 years in office or practice management.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating staff preferred.
  • Experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with providers, staff and patients.
  • Knowledge of healthcare practice operations and patient service.
  • Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills for routine operational issues.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft Office and other administrative tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily administrative operations to ensure efficient workflows, appropriate staffing, and timely completion of departmental responsibilities.
  • Lead and support administrative and clerical staff, including scheduling, training, performance feedback, and staff development.
  • Partner with providers and clinical staff to address operational needs, improve workflows, and support quality patient care.
  • Monitor timekeeping, attendance, leave, and payroll submissions per organizational policies.
  • Support routine financial activities, including expense tracking, budget monitoring, billing, and reimbursement processes.
  • Maintain office policies and procedures and support compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate staff licensure, certifications and required training and other compliance-related records as needed.
  • Address patient and staff concerns professionally and identify opportunities to improve service and practice operations.
  • Provides backup coverage for other departmental positions and responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the department and organization.

Position Summary

The Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of an assigned practice or department. Working Conditions

  • There is potential exposure to common medical practice conditions, including communicable diseases, bodily fluids and chemical substances.
  • Physical demands include walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 20 pounds, stooping, assisting patients and prolonged periods of sitting.
