Job summary

Murfrreesboro Medical Clinic & SurgiCenter (MMC) is seeking an Administration - Referral Specialist at our Main Campus in Murfreesboro. You will coordinate patient referrals, authorizations, and related insurance requirements to enable timely access to care.

Responsibilities include processing referrals, verifying information, communicating with patients and offices, documenting in the EMR, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of healthcare or administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience with referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, or medical scheduling preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems and standard computer applications preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when working with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, referrals, authorizations, and medical scheduling.

Position Summary

The Referral Specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing patient referrals, authorizations, and related insurance requirements to support timely access to care. This role works closely with patients, providers, and referring offices to ensure referrals are accurately processed, documented, and communicated while providing professional and patient-centered service.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of healthcare or administrative experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, or medical scheduling preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and insurance processes preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when working with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, referrals, authorizations, and medical scheduling.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and standard computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple referrals and prioritize time-sensitive tasks.
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and effective teamwork in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a clinical office setting and involves frequent telephone and in-person communication with patients and staff.
