Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician to support our Surgery Team in Cary, NC. The role involves providing nursing care to postoperative and stable patients, and contributing to team goals with independence and accountability.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience, is capable of on-call duties after training, and will operate a range of IV fluids and monitoring equipment in a fast-paced environment committed to high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Willing to complete on-call schedule after training.
• Ability to work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
