Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Unit Assistant/PCT to support the General Surgery unit. The role involves assisting with patient care, monitoring, and basic procedures under nurse supervision, using the EMR system for documentation.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, and an active CNA certification or enrollment in NGHS training. This is an on-site, 12-hour shift environment with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with completion of at least sophomore year.
• No previous experience required for entry-level care roles.
• Active CNA certification preferred or required to enroll in NGHS training.
• Foundations of Nursing course for RN students may be a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and report basic patient physiological data such as vital signs.
• Assist with positioning, mobility, hygiene, and comfort per procedures.
• Monitor input and output and document accurately.
• Identify changes in patient status and report to licensed staff promptly.
• Coordinate care with nursing and other departments and respond to calls.
• Performs routine procedures and prepares patient for rounds and procedures.
• Maintain patient charts and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
• Assist with transport, meal delivery, and basic patient care activities.
