Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) in Iowa City, IA. The roles involve assisting nursing staff with vital signs, phlebotomy, and patient transport on a 32-hour-per-week night-shift schedule.

Candidates will support care for orthopedic, trauma, and spine patients, including admissions and discharges, and contribute to a compassionate, high-quality patient experience in a busy hospital unit.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain and record vital signs accurately.
• Experience assisting nursing staff in a clinical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Perform basic nursing duties under RN supervision, including phlebotomy and Foley catheter care.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges; provide personal comfort and hygiene to patients.
