Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit in Iowa City. This part-time role supports the Nursing team under RN supervision, performing vital signs, basic procedures, and patient care tasks in a 48-bed surgical unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with admissions, transfers, discharges, hygiene, turning, feeding, and safe transport of patients and supplies. Day shifts with weekend/holiday rotation are available.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy and IV/ catheter procedures as directed.
• Assist with admission, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient hygiene and comfort.
• Transport patients and supplies as needed.
• Stock and prepare equipment for procedures.
