Job summary

Trinity Health in Livonia, MI is seeking a CVOR Surgical Technologist to support intraoperative instrumentation, aseptic technique, and patient care in complex surgeries. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and efficiency in the operating room.

The position requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, CPR within 1 month of hire, NBSTA certification within 1 year, and at least 1 year of inpatient experience, with possible weekend/holiday call as determined by the CB A.

Qualifications

• Minimum completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Preferred Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
• CPR certification within 1 month of hire.
• NBSTA Surgical Technologist certification within 1 year of hire.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows-based computer systems and email.
• Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
• At least 1 year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience.
• Preferred 1 year of Cardiovascular Services or open-heart surgery experience.
• Must be able to take required call for open-heart team.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeons and residents by passing instruments and supplies and providing retraction as directed.
• Maintains the highest aseptic technique during procedures and monitors sterile boundaries.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and intervenes to resolve.
• Performs reprocessing tasks including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation and issue resolution.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: 36 hours per week; variable shifts 8 hr shift; 6:30a-3:00p and 10hr shifts; 06:30-5:00p Weekends and holidays to be scheduled in accordance with CBA. Call required

What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Do:

• Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
• Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
• Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Need:

• Minimum Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Preferred Associate of Applied Science Surgical Technology.
• Certification or re-certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one month of hire.
• NBSTA Surgical Technologist certification within 1 year of hire.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
• Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
• Must have at least one (1) year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience
• Preferred one (1) year of Cardiovascular Services experience or open-heart surgery experience.
• Must be able to take required call for the open-heart team.
