Job summary

Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Bluffton is seeking a Surgical Technologist Team Leader for the Operating Room to guide the sterile field and support the surgical team.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to deliver patient care pre-, intra-, and post-operatively in a bustling OR. The role requires 1–3 years as a Surgical Technologist, certification, and BLS, with dayshift, full-time hours.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with formal OR technology training.
• Surgical Technology certification or prior experience as a Surgical Technologist before 2008.
• BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon, anesthesiologist, and OR staff to ensure patient safety pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment readiness according to hospital policies.
• Collaborate with the operating room team at Bluffton Community Hospital to deliver efficient patient care.

Description

**South of Broad Healthcare (SOBH) is expanding access to high-quality, community-based healthcare throughout southern Beaufort County and the surrounding Lowcountry. Grounded by a mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, SOBH supports strategic growth designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people and communities we serve. At the center of SOBH is Bluffton Community Hospital, a new 28 bed, full-service hospital. Approximately 90,000 square foot facility will include a 24/7 emergency department, an acute inpatient nursing unit, surgical and endoscopy suites, a cardiac catheterization lab, advanced imaging, laboratory services, and additional outpatient capabilities. The hospital is scheduled for completion in late 2026, with patient care anticipated to being early 2027.**

The Surgical Technologist-Team Lead is a member of the surgical team who works closely with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, registered nurse in delivery of patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively and post-operatively. Acts in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards as prescribed by the Governing Board, Hospital Administration and Patient Care Services of Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Position Requirements

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Formal course in OR Technology. Certification in Surgical Technology or worked as a Surgical Technologist prior to 2008. Per South Carolina Surgical Technologist Association, one will be Grandfathered if worked as a Surgical Technologist prior to 2008.

Experience

• 1-3 years experience as a Surgical Technologist. Work in a medical office considered

Certifications/Licenses

• Certification in Surgical Technology from national agency required.
• BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
