Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH seeks a full-time surgical technologist to assist in the operating room, prepare patients, pass instruments, and support the surgical team during day shifts.

Under supervision, you will ensure sterility, set up equipment, and monitor OR conditions; applicants should have a high school diploma, BLS, NH license, NBSTSA preferred, and 2–3 years of acute care experience. A sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits are included.

Job Summary

Full time day position at WDH in Dover, NH: 4 ten-hour shifts with minimal call and new higher pay rates & a Sign on Bonus! Great Benefits including medical, dental, 10 paid holidays, a 403b and Cash Balance Pension Plan!

Summary

Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.

Essential Functions

Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

  • Participates in time-out procedures.
  • Attainment of extra supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Sets up equipment independently.
  • Participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team.
  • Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.
  • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

[CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.

NH Medical Tech license required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Experience
  • Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting 2-3 years required.
  • Four (4) years experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting; committee and leadership experience 3-5 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
  • Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
