Job summary

Mass General Brigham seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to support OR operations at 800 Huntington Avenue. You will assist with patient positioning, instrument handling, and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.

Summary
Job Summary

Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. May provide day-to-day guidance/direction to more junior staff.

Essential Functions
  • Participates in time out procedures.
  • Attainment of extra supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Sets up equipment independently.
  • Participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team.
  • Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.
  • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Surgical Technologist [CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred Medical Technician [New Hampshire License] - New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy preferred Experience Experience at time of hire: Three (3) years of diversified experience in the operating/procedure room 3-5 years required and Experience scrubbing in multiple specialties; five (5) years of experience preferred and one (1) year of experience working and leading teams 3-5 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room. - Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment. - Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies. - Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
