Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support aseptic technique and prep for operative procedures. You will assist the circulator, manage instruments and supplies, and help with room turnover to ensure efficient surgical workflows.

The role requires BLS certification and a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, with NBSTSA/NCCT certification preferred. This position is on-site in a hospital setting and involves adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider is required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology is required or equivalent military training.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
• Assists RN circulator in patient prep, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment and specimen disposition; supports room turnover.
• Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
• Monitors sterility of supplies and proper documentation of charges.
• Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
• Attends in-services and participates in Performance Improvement processes.
• Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet goals.
• Assists in development of policies, procedures, and standards.
