Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to maintain a sterile field and support the OR team. This part-time role offers 8-hour or 10-hour days with Monday–Friday scheduling and on-call duties.

You will assist surgeons, pass instruments, perform counts, help with patient positioning, and contribute to an efficient workflow. Candidates should have CST or ORT training, 3+ years OR experience, and current BLS; proficiency in key specialties within

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with 3+ years' surgical experience.
• Experience scrubbing a range of procedures (General, Ortho, Urology, GYN).
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintained.
• 2–3 years OR experience or CST upon hire and maintained.
• Proficient in Gen, Gyn, Urol, Vasc, ENT/Plastics within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
• Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and post-procedure.
• Support patient positioning and surgical site preparation (draping).
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and OR team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
