Job summary

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge in The Dalles, OR, seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. You will prepare cases, maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, and assist surgeons during procedures.

Required certifications include Surgery Technician certification and CPR/BLS; CNA certification preferred. The role involves equipment prep, inventory checks, and counts with the RN.

Qualifications

• Accredited surgical technology program required.
• High School Education/GED or equivalent preferred.
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination preferred.
• Scrub technician experience preferred.
• Operating room experience and/or training course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment.
• Assembles appropriate supplies/equipment prior to operative procedures.
• Reviews equipment inventory for specialty as assigned.
• Sets up operative instrumentation/sterile field for expedient retrieval/utilization.
• Collects data on assigned surgical cases by the unit based on Performance Standards of Care.
• Cleans equipment and facilities as necessary.
• Performs housekeeping duties as requested.
• Transports patients according to unit schedules and priorities.
• Provides clerical duties.
• Completes instrument, sponge, needle and blade counts with the RN according to established standards.
• Sets up/maintains neat and orderly sterile field demonstrating careful attention to aseptic technique.
• Labels solutions according to established standards.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
