Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics in Salem, Oregon, is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room. This full-time role (36 hours/week, non-exempt) supports surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and the broader surgical team to maintain a sterile environment and deliver safe, high-quality care.

You will prepare rooms, pass instruments, monitor medications on the sterile field, handle specimens, and contribute to standard safety procedures and efficient turnover.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by a national body approved by Oregon Health Authority.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Current surgical technologist certification (NBSTSA, NCCT, or JCAHPO).

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and establish sterile fields with instruments and supplies using aseptic technique.
• Support surgeons by passing instruments, preparing medications, and assisting with dressings on the sterile field.
• Promote patient safety through hand hygiene, verification, surgical time-outs, medication labeling, and debriefs.
