Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join its operating room team in Louisiana. You will ensure a safe surgery for every patient by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and supporting the surgeon’s needs throughout procedures.

The role involves scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and assisting with patient positioning and room turnover, with a focus on asepsis and readiness for each case.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Provide scrub assistance during procedures which reflect awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
• Demonstrate the application of the principles of asepsis and select proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment prior to procedures and verify sterile instruments taking corrective action when any unsafe practice, conditions or breaks in aseptic technique occur and report information to the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.
