Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks a Surgical Technician to support perioperative services. You will prepare the operating room for procedures, assist with instrument and supply needs, and participate in scrub duties under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, assisting with specimen handling, and ensuring proper turnover of rooms and equipment between cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Accred Surgical Program preferred.
• Surgical Technician certification or credential preferred.

• Hours: 3/12s - 10:30am - 11:00PM
• Call and Holiday rotation
• Service - Cardiac, thoracic, and vascular

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

Role Purpose
