Job summary

Florida Springs Surgery Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team and maintain a sterile field during procedures.

The role involves assisting the circulating nurse, preparing supplies, and ensuring patient safety through accurate counting and adherence to aseptic techniques. Prior ambulatory surgery center experience is preferred, with strong teamwork and communication essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Certification as required by state/center.
• Ambulatory surgical center experience preferred.
• Experience in Orthopedics and/or ENT preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
• Ability to adapt to changing patient conditions.
• Excellent teamwork and communication with staff, patients and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterility of supplies and instruments during setup.
• Assist circulating nurse and surgical team to maintain sterile environment.
• Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment; perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
• Keep physician preference cards accurate and updated.
• Retain specimens for pathology with proper labeling.
• Transport equipment; assist in cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
• Interact professionally with patients and staff; protect privacy and confidentiality.
• Follow safety guidelines; participate in drills and training.
