Job summary

The role requires a CST credential, BLS, and at least 1 year of experience; orthopedic/spine experience is a plus. Work in a fast-paced team environment with a focus on patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current CST credential required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum of one year surgical technologist experience preferred; ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
• Orthopedic, spine, pain management, or interventional procedure experience desirable.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for procedures, ensuring instruments and sterile supplies are ready.
• Assist surgeons and RNs during orthopedic, neurosurgical, and pain management procedures.
• Handle surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies as directed during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts with circulating staff according to hospital policy.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized surgical equipment.
• Ensure proper care, handling, and cleaning of surgical instruments post-procedure.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of techniques and safety standards for ortho, neuro, and pain specialties.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and technicians to maintain workflow and patient care.
• Support inventory, restocking, and quality assurance processes.

The Surgical Technician is a key member of the surgical team, providing technical support during operative procedures in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and pain management. This role requires efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. The Surgical Technician ensures all instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, sterile, and properly maintained to support safe and successful patient outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functioning.
• Assist surgeons and RNs during orthopedic, neurosurgical, and pain management procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining the sterile field.
• Handles surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies as directed during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts with circulating staff according to hospital policy.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized surgical equipment (e.g., drills, microscopes, navigation systems).
• Ensure proper care, handling, and cleaning of surgical instruments post‑procedure.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of surgical techniques, instrumentation, and safety standards specific to ortho, neuro, and pain specialties.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and fellow technicians to maintain smooth workflow and optimal patient care.
• Support continuous improvement by assisting with inventory, restocking, and quality assurance processes.
• Uphold all infection control and safety policies at all times.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of surgical technologist experience preferred; ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus.
