Job summary

Azspineandjoint in Merritt Island, FL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room teams under supervision of surgeons and RNs. Candidates should have CST program graduate status, CPR certification, and 2+ years of CST experience; sterile processing experience is a plus.

The role involves preparing equipment and the OR, assisting in pre-op procedures, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the surgical team during operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Must be certified to perform CPR.
• 2+ years of clinical experience as CST preferred.
• Sterile Processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Helps prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
• Tends to patient during pre-operation procedures according to hospital regulations.
• Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment.
• Assembles sterile and non-sterile equipment and ensures proper operation.
• Prepares patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
• Transports patients to the operating room and positions them for surgery.
• Monitors patients' vital signs and assists with sterile gowning and gloving.
• Passes instruments to surgeons, holds retractors, and helps count supplies.
• Operates sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and other diagnostic equipment.
• After operation, transfers patients to recovery and restocks the OR.
