Job summary

Mercy Hospital Lincoln is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operative procedures in the hospital's Operating Room. You will prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and coordinate patient care with the surgical team while upholding patient rights and Mercy Service Standards.

The role involves assisting surgeons, maintaining instrument readiness, and ensuring efficient room turnover. Applicants should have a high school diploma, BLS, and OR experience; certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; proof of education may be required.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred; non-certified with experience considered.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate needs of the surgeon and operative team while maintaining sterile technique.
• Assist surgeons in a knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous manner.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain instruments and equipment using procedure cards.
• Inspect instruments and power equipment; report faulty items and remove from service.
• Perform sterile preps and monitor aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Complete room turnover and ensure proper specimen handling with the circulator.
• Communicate delays or early completions to optimize room utilization.
