Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques used in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of various types of equipment used in the operating room.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Certification Addendum; maintain annual hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF).
• Licensure/Certification: BLS for Healthcare Providers within 6 months unless exempt.

Responsibilities

• Provides for a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care.
• Utilizes aseptic surgical techniques in preparation for procedures; assists with gowning, draping, sterile field, passing instruments, and maintaining field.
• Sets up operating room and equipment, moves and operates devices, restores room post-procedure.
• Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary.
• Notifies staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Transports patients and equipment and maintains a ready cart of supplies.
• Performs patient positioning and lifting with proper technique.
• Meets age-specific care needs and follows department policies and procedures.
