• Review special needs with the surgeon before surgery.
• Set up the operating room and instrument tables before each case.
• Pass instruments and hold retractors during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assist with patient draping and positioning.
• Handle surgical specimens according to protocol.
• Prepare used instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
• Follow AORN and OSHA guidelines for a safe work environment.
