Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is a full-service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room. Under the direction of a licensed professional nurse, you will scrub on all surgical procedures and assist the physician in procedural areas.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS, and NBSTSA-certified training with certification upon hire.

Qualifications

• To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS Required (American Heart Association).
• Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA.
• Certification required upon hire.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large complex OR.
• NYU Surgical Tech Program graduate.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room and assist the physician.
• Under the supervision of the circulating RN, assist on procedures as a secondary circulator.
• Gathers needed supplies and equipment, escalates outstanding needs with the RN Circulator.
• Reports unexpected events and outcomes to RN staff/leadership in a timely fashion.
• Provides On-call coverage where applicable.
